It’d be unrealistic to expect the Wii to be featured in any eSports events any time soon, but getting online multiplayer and more games that take full advantage of the controls will be a large step toward seeing Wii gaming competitions. At the very least, we may see EA Sports use the Wii for their national Madden Challenge a year or two down the road. Long-time fans of the Madden series had started to become bored with the repetition of each release, but the Wii version gives us a great re-envisioning of how football and other sports titles can be played on consoles.
